Learn How to Decide on the Essiac Tea Serving Size That is Right For You

You will choose your essiac tea serving size based on whether or not you currently have a health condition that you'd like to improve. The Improvement of Health Serving Size is by far the most common and we suggest you start there if you are new to essiac or if there is something about your health that you wish to improve.

The only reported side effect while using essiac for the first time is an increased frequency in needing to use the bathroom. Essiac Tea Serving Size Information: Guidelines

All servings should be taken on an empty stomach. The research by Rene Caisse showed best results when people took essiac on an empty stomach, as this will ensure maximum absorption of your essiac tea.

What does having an empty stomach mean for our purposes? This means you should avoid eating for 2 hours before and 1 hour after taking essiac for best results.

Example: Finish eating breakfast at 7am. You can have essiac at 9am. Have a quick snack at 10am. You can have essiac again at 12pm. You can have lunch at 1pm. Etc...

Aggressive/Improvement of Health Serving Size

Most individuals choose to take the Aggressive /Improvement of Health serving size because they are drinking essiac tea in an attempt to improve their health. It doesn't matter what your condition is - all are considered equal for this purpose, aside from thise given a terminal diagnosis or those undergoing chemo and/or radiation treatment. In that case, see our Aggressive Plus Serving information below.

Recommended Improvement of Health serving of essiac tea is 9 oz. per day of brewed tea, taken in three separate 3 oz. servings. You cannot take 4.5 oz. twice per day and expect the same results.

You should commit to the Improvement of Health serving for 6 months before you determine whether or not essiac is of benefit to you. Some people notice a benefit almost immediately, but for others it can take up to 6 months to notice an effect. Aggressive PLUS Serving Size*

Aggressive PLUS serving is 6 oz. of brewed tea taken three times per day. This serving size is the only exception to the rule that everyone wishing to improve health needs 3 oz. three times per day. Aggressive PLUS is for anyone that needs the strongest possible serving size due to being told they have less than six months to live (as essiac can take up to six months for full benefit to appear). This is also the best amount for anyone that is currently receiving chemo or radiation treatment. Those treatments can interfere with essiac's ability to work hence the extra serving recommended, but essiac does not interfere with results from the chemo or radiation. 

Maintenance/Preventive Serving Size

You might choose to take the maintenance serving if you are currently enjoying good health and simply wish to maintain your health. You can also use this serving size once your health problem that you had when you started taking essiac is all better.

The recommended maintenance serving of essiac tea is 6 oz. per day, taken in two separate 3 oz. servings. The maintenance serving still needs to be taken on an empty stomach.

Most people choose to remain on the maintenance serving indefinitely. If a health problem develops they can then switch to the aggressive serving for a little while until their test results return to normal once again. Why is there "sludge" at the bottom of my container after I've brewed my tea? Can I throw it out?

The herbs are important to consume as part of each essiac tea serving. Therefore, please do not strain and throw out the particles at the bottom (some describe it as "mud" or "sludge"). It's important to get some of these particles into each and every serving. The most effective way to do this is to use a large wooden spoon to stir the pitcher before pouring each essiac tea serving. You can leave the lid off your container while it's stored in the fridge to make this more convenient. Stirring tends to work better than shaking - especially when the pitcher is full. You can store your essiac in any type of pitcher that you'd normally use to make iced tea. Glass bottles or mason jars are not necessary, but you may use them if you wish. You may use any pitcher that you'd normally use to store iced tea.
